A Taste of the Sea with Seaflow Seaweed and Oyster Gin

Following on from its hugely successful Oyster Vodka, Rhode Island-based ISCO Spirits has released Seaflow Gin – made with the unique combination of seaweed and oysters.

Seaflow Gin is full of bright citrus and crisp salinity, and is naturally blue like the sea. It’s crafted using 100% organic corn and juniper, fresh-farmed oysters, regeneratively-farmed New England seaweed, citrus, flowers and pure water.

Oysters and farmed seaweed are two of the most sustainable products from the sea, both require few to no inputs and help create diverse ecosystems and sink carbon/clean our oceans. Oyster shells from the production process are composted and our spent grains are sent to feed pigs and cows on a local farm.

With aromas of a gentle ocean breeze and fresh citrus, Seaflow Gin comes on the palate with flavors of light juniper, delicate seaweed, smoked kombu, candied fennel, sorrel and peppercorn. It also pairs perfectly with all kinds of seafood dishes. including of course fresh oysters on the half-shell.

It’s already made a splash in NYC hotspots such as Tusk Bar and sustainability-minded restaurants such as Crave Fishbar (whose High Tide cocktail includes Seaflow, seaweed simple syrup and lemon, garnished with seaweed).

Seaflow Gin works perfect in a collins, gimlet or martini, or any tropical/citrus-forward cocktail. For a twist on a classic, try this Seaflow Martini:

Ingredients

  • 2oz Seaflow Gin
  • .75oz dry vermouth
  • 1 dash orange bitters

Method

  1. Add all ingredients to a mixing tin, add ice stir and double strain
  2. Serve in a martini glass with a lemon twist garnish

The Industrious Spirit Company, a woman-owned business, produces its from-scratch spirits on the site of a former steel yard in Providence, RI.
